This picture was taken on the 27th of September around 7pm near the Batthyány tér metro station. I love this photo because of the funny story behind it.
While it’s not my first time in Budapest, I had never properly visited this spot. The last time I was here, we were leaving the city by car after a trip to Szentendre. As we drove past the Parliament near Batthyány tér, we were amazed by the view. I tried to take pictures from inside the moving car, but they were all blurry and unusable. My mom, wanting a good memory, told me to just get out and take a proper photo.
The funny part was that I didn’t have my shoes on, and there was not time to put them on in the middle of the traffic. So, I jumped out of the car in my socks and ran to find a good spot. People on the street were looking at me as if I were crazy, but at the end it was pretty funny. At that moment, I thought it would be my last chance to take a photo of this view.
Now, I am living in Budapest. When I went to see the Parliament from an apparently perfect spot, I realized it was the exact same place I had once run to in my socks, thinking it was my last opportunity.
