Chasing Purpose: From Local Voices to Global Vision

From the dusty paths of rural communities where I held a camera and microphone to amplify unheard voices, to the picturesque streets of Budapest where I now hold a new dream this journey tells the story of growth, resilience, and purpose.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to make a difference in my world. I was that child who always looked after others ensuring my friends were okay and standing up for anyone who was treated unfairly. My friends nicknamed me “Comrade,” because even then, I refused to stay silent in the face of injustice. I was sometimes punished for speaking out, but that never stopped me from doing what I believed was right.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I was faced with the inevitable question what next? My answer came through a media internship, where I trained as a journalist and became a community correspondent. I reported on issues that affected everyday people and demanded accountability from local leaders. It was fulfilling work, yet something inside me remained unsettled. I realised I was always reporting problems, but I wanted to be part of the solution.
I was a young journalist, deeply rooted in my community, driven by a passion to report the truth and stand for justice. I listened to people’s stories of struggle, strength, and survival and sought to make their voices count. That experience shaped my belief that change begins when we listen, learn, and act with compassion.
That drive led me into the civil society space, where I began capturing human stories, amplifying the voices of the voiceless, and helping communities access opportunities to thrive. Soon after, I transitioned into the humanitarian sector, working with people affected by the prolonged insurgency in Nigeria. Through donor-funded interventions, I saw lives transformed and for the first time, I felt a deep sense of fulfilment. I wasn’t just telling stories anymore; I was part of the change I once only reported.
After several scholarship rejections and countless moments of doubt, I finally found myself here in Hungary, a new chapter unfolding before me. My first photo of Budapest isn’t just a picture; it’s a reminder of perseverance, purpose, and the power of dreams that refuse to fade.
